Praxis Introductory Course

If you would like to try more classes we have a six week on-boarding course. The course is a gradual progression giving you a good working knowledge of Jiu Jitsu. The classes will build upon each other and are put together in a way that allows the beginner to understand how the martial art approaches self defense.

Our next two courses are:

4/25 - 6/1, Classes are Wed/Fri 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

5/1 - 6/7, Classes are Tue/Thur Noon to 1:00 PM

If those days/times don't work with your schedule, but you still wish to take the course please contact us here.

Want to get a head start on the classes?

We put together a handbook for you. It covers some of the principle that guide our practice, a small primer on how Brazilian Jiu Jitsu approaches self defense, and general tips for getting the most out of classes.

It is not required reading, but then neither are cookbooks. Unless you are slinging hash like Anthony Bourdain it doesn't hurt to at least take a peak at the instructions. ;)

What would you like to get out of training? What motivates you to train?

Our students seem to get a lot out of training despite different motivating factors that bring us here. Some students come for the fitness, (minus the treadmill), some come to learn a new skill set, and others are here just because they enjoy the team. Regardless of your motivation, there is something interesting about the connection Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has with MMA. If you would like to learn more about that connection and how it relates to our classes you can do so here.

Want to understand how we we approach training and why?

How we learn Jiu Jitsu

This article is a bit of a deep dive and has, (more or less), two sections. The first section essentially ends when you hit the heading "mastering fewer tools". The first section is ideally read in one sitting, however I would recommend going back through it as there are many concepts there that can elude even advanced guys at times.

The second section, mastering fewer tools, is a bit more technical. My hope is that students revisit it often and/or as needed. There are many keys there to getting better at Jiu Jitsu.

Please feel free to contact us here if you have any questions about anything Jiu Jitsu. However if you want to grab a spot in one of our upcoming intro courses you can do that right here.

4/25 - 6/1, Classes are Wed/Fri 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

5/1 - 6/7, Classes are Tue/Thur Noon to 1:00 PM

See you in class!
