Praxis Kids Program
There isn't a class in school that teaches kids how to get along with each other. Often, they are let out for recess and we basically hope they figure it out. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can help your child navigate what can be one of the harder puzzles a child has to figure out; how to get along well with others.
At Praxis we want the same bright future for your child that every parent wants - a future marked by increased self-confidence, motivation, and perseverance that will enable them to achieve anything they set their mind to. And the resilence to adjust when things don't go their way.
Our method of instruction begins with the belief that child's support system, (parents, family, and teachers), hold 100% of the responsibility of the child's education. We believe that children thrive best when they are appropriately supported, encouraged and given the structure and direction to be successful. As the child gains confidence and independence they gradually take over the responsibility for the outcomes they wish to achieve.
Part of this approach comes from the idea; catch them doing something good and reward that. We provide an engaging curriculum that gives children the opportunity to learn through play. We have found that focusing on the growth and efforts made by a child goes further in developing resilience than pointing out where they fell short.
We realize that this approach requires a special commitment from parents and educators. We want to work with you every step of the way so your child can truly flourish on his or her journey to become a lifelong self-learner.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based martial art. There are no punches or kicks in the class. Kids are taught the use of leverage, timing, and good body mechanics in order to stay safe from an aggressor. Because there is no striking, students are able to practice their actual techniques as opposed to kicking a bag or breaking a board. Not only is this easier on their bodies, it offers them the satisfaction and confidence of knowing they can in fact defend themselves against a resisting opponent.
We offer two weeks free for the kids program. We have two age groups for classes. Our Jump Start program is for kids ages 4-7. The Juniors program is for kids ages 7-12. All kids start by meeting the instructor for an intro class. You can reserve an intro spot below
