Course Descriptions - Adults

Our structured curriculum presents a gradual progression through all skill levels from a brand new beginner to the experienced competitor. The introduction classes are very beginner friendly. This is where you will start if you have never trained before.

Introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Intro classes are a survey of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s approach to self-defense. Students get hands on practice with the basic techniques and strategy used to defend yourself. This framework provides the basic road map that you will reference back to throughout your study of Jiu-Jitsu. It is an introductory level class that is designed with the complete beginner in mind.

Fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

This is where we dive into the minutiae of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques and what makes them work. Emphasis is placed on HOW to make a technique work against a resisting opponent. Here you will get very specific resistance from your partner so that you may learn how to appropriately select and execute the correct technique given the situation. We follow a very structured curriculum to ensure the student gets a well-rounded knowledge of the many options there are in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Intermediate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Once a cursory knowledge of basic moves and strategy are adopted by the student, they naturally begin to evaluate counters, combinations, and how to pull them off during live training. Our intermediate curriculum takes the strong defensive base we build with the first two courses and adds a strong offensive element to it.

Movement and Recovery

One of the classic hurdles to learning Jiu Jitsu is to try and learn moves without learning movement. When your own movement and balance are on point you are much less likely to try and force a technique and more likely to find the finesse in the technique. In this class we will look at the common movements and movement patterns that come up in Jiu Jitsu.

Mix - Randori

An all levels class designed to take you from the level of not training live to training live safely.

Open mat

This is an unguided class where you can train at your level, drill technique, or break the moves down and try to understand what/when/how they work. Study hall for Jiu Jitsu.

Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Our Advanced classes contain both Gi (Kimono), and NoGi days. This is where you learn to string together all of the techniques of BJJ and master the timing required to make them work. Emphasis is placed on WHY you would select one sequence of techniques over another. There is sparring in every class and these are by invitation only.
